Overview

Counselor will be responsible for all preliminary proposed awards.  A packaging philosophy will be available for guidance and reference.  Each Counselor will take the “Geographic” section of the incoming class assigned through all phases of applying for and finalizing aid packages with final approval of Financial Aid Director.  This process includes complete knowledge of loans, grants, scholarships, and external special programs.  Financial Aid Director has final approval.

Each incoming student will remain with their assigned counselor throughout enrollment.  Loans will continue to be billed in house after students graduate or separate from Hillsdale and accounts will be analyzed monthly for contacting past due loan recipients.

Student Loan Manager will oversee the processing and collection of all College loans, manage these loans within both Colleague and CRM.  Keep Director informed of all pending litigation and other possible problems.  This position is also be responsible for managing all loan budgets and allocating loan offers according to monies available.

Education and Experience

Baccalaureate degree is preferred.  Two to five years of office experience with an accounting background is also preferred--or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.

The Financial Aid Office interacts with College staff, students, parents, and faculty.  A clean and neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission is essential.  This relationship needs to be pleasant, supportive, and professional, while maintaining confidentiality as needed.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and oversee the processing and collection of all College loans including the billing procedure monthly.
2. Manage all individual loan accounts.
3. Work with approved credit agencies and letter writing services including reviewing and taking on additional service options available for collections.
4. Assist Director to identify ARC recipients who convert their loans at year end.
5. Stay abreast of new legislation and collections laws.
6. Assist Director with special donor reports for loan funds.
7. Keep Director abreast of all pending litigation and any other potential collection issues.
